The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR):
These regulations are in force to limit the effects of ionising
radiation on radiation workers and members of the general public. The
regulations are overseen by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

IRR 2017 requires the Employer to
notify, register or obtain consent for the use of ionising radiations in the
workplace. Details of the process and information on which practices require
notification, registration and consent are given at

The Employer’s application for notification, registration and consent
can be made by visiting
https://services.hse.gov.uk/bssd/.
Previous notification under IRR 1999 cannot
be carried forward. Please consult RPC for further details.”

The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IRMER):
These regulations are aimed at ensuring that all persons undergoing medical
exposures receive doses that are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARP).
They also exempt patients from the dose limits, imposed by IRR, for members of
the public. The regulations are overseen by the Care Quality Commission
(CQC).

on all aspects of ionising radiation protection in the clinical environment
and as such is relevant to both IRR and IRMER. The Medical and
