X-ray Equipment Performance Measurements

(Quality Control)

Regular radiation safety and performance surveys of diagnostic x-ray equipment are vital to ensure the optimum level of protection for both staff and patients while maintaining the highest image quality.

We have wide experience in carrying out radiation surveys. Safety surveys are usually undertaken on an annual basis. However, for the more complex and higher dose imaging equipment, the survey may be undertaken more frequently.

Using the most modern and sophisticated measurement and test equipment we can optimise the performance of equipment in the whole of the imaging chain. This is a prerequisite for a properly constituted quality control (QC) programme.

We can commission x-ray equipment before it is first used on patients (a legal requirement) and provide baseline values of performance to link with the in-house QC programme.

We can offer advice including instruction and record sheets along with technical support such as calibration facilities to assist radiology managers in implementing and monitoring their own quality control programme.

Regular visits, usually annually, can be made to carry out extensive equipment performance monitoring to compliment the in-house QC programme.

The equipment performance survey is usually carried out with the radiation protection survey to minimise disruption.

We can tailor the type and frequency of surveys to meet individual customer's requirements.

Naturally, a full report is provided which is designed in such a way as to be easily read while providing a full record of the work carried out.

A regular training course is offered on radiation protection and quality control. An x-ray performance testing course is also offered for clinical technologists and physicists
