Radiation Protection Advisory Services

Most users of ionising radiation are required to appoint a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA). RPC can fulfil this role because it acts as an RPA body, drawing on the expertise of a dedicated team.

We can help your organisation by:

  • Advising on the legislative requirements.

  • Keeping you up-to-date on new and forthcoming requirements of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999, Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations, Radioactive Substances Act 1993, the Radioactive Material (Road Transport) Regulations 2002 and other relevant legislation and guidance.

  • Undertaking an annual audit of radiological protection and providing a status report.

  • Providing a unique handbook for radiation protection supervisors which includes a record-keeping scheme that applies the principles of quality management to radiation protection.

  • Devising local rules and emergency plans.

  • Providing emergency cover, if required.

  • Specifying the design of radiation rooms.

  • Investigating incidents.

  • Liasing with Government Inspectors.

  • Acting as Medical Physics Expert for diagnostic medical exposures.
