RADIATION PROTECTION FOR NURSES & OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

Date: 18th November 2008
Time: 10:30 - 16:00
Venue: The Fitzgerald Lecture Theatre, RPC, South Wimbledon

About the Course

This course is designed specifically for any nurses coming into contact with radiation during their working lives and is particularly relevant to x-ray and theatre nurses. It is also ideal for employees such as x-ray assistants or other ancillary staff who may frequently come into contact with x-rays or nuclear medicine patients.

The course covers the basics of radiation protection and ways of minimising the exposure to staff and patient. It therefore forms an essential part of the training of health professionals involved in radiological procedures.

The course provides appropriate training for referrers under the IR(ME)R legislation, although RPC also runs a half day course to cover the training requirements for non-medically qualified referrers.
